Im Sportstudio der MHP Arena begrüßte Andreas Grupp, Präsidiumsmitglied des VfB, zahlreiche Gäste zu Buchvorstellung und Talkrunde – darunter auch Historiker Dr. Gregor Hofmann, Mihail Rubinstein von der Israelitischen Religionsgemeinschaft Württemberg, Alon Bindes von der Jüdischen Studierendenunion Württemberg und Prof. Dr. Michael Krüger vom Institut für Sportgeschichte Baden-Württemberg. Den späteren Talk moderierte Bernd Sautter.
„Neu“, das erklärte Dr. Gregor Hofmann, „ist die Schilderung der bislang völlig unbekannten Lebens- und Verfolgungsgeschichten jüdischer Vereinsmitglieder des VfB.“ Mitmenschen jüdischen Glaubens seien als Sportler, Funktionäre und Sponsoren im Verein aktiv gewesen, sagte Hofmann: „Erst trugen sie zum Aufstieg des VfB bei, bevor sie ab 1933 auch aus dem Vereinsleben ausgegrenzt und ausgeschlossen wurden.“
